

Was born on March 16, 1920 in Hammond, Indiana to Casper and Ernestina Camp. He died on October 19, 2015 at the age of 95. He graduated from Caldonia High School in 1939 and enlisted in the Army Air Corps on December 8, 1941. He flew 30 missions over Germany as a belly turret gunner in a B-17 bomber. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and three Oak Leaf Clusters as well as other medals. Upon his return to the United States, he married Marian Kinney of Wenatchee, Washington on August 9, 1944. They raised seven children together and had twelve grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.
Les retired as a machinist from Grand Coulee Dam in 1978. He was an avid golfer and “golfed his age” at 80. He was active in Wilbur’s Masonic Lodge and was a member of the Wilbur Senior Center, V.F.W., and Lutheran Church.
One of the highlights of his recent years was his participation in Honor Flight. He was part of a group of WWII veterans invited to go to Washington D.C. to view the memorials built in their honor.
Les was preceded in death by Marian, his wife of 68 years, his son-in-law Randy Hatten, his grandson Richard Rohde, three brothers, and four sisters. He is survived by his children Terri (Bob) Rohde, Judy (Russ) McKenzie, Rick Camp, Dan (Bev) Camp, Patty (the late Randy) Hatten, Carol (Glen) Bagley, Jim (Leatha) Camp, and one sister Elveira Muscott. A memorial reception will be held on October 31, 2015, at the Big Bend Golf & Country Club from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice House South, 367 E.
