Obituary of Domenic Anthony DeCapua
Domenic Anthony DeCapua, 84, a resident of Harbor Hills Country Club, Florida, passed away peacefully at home in his sleep on March 7, 2023. Domenic is survived by his wife, Peggy Springstead DeCapua, daughter, Sheila DeCapua Cogan of Lady Lake, Florida, and son, Michael Anthony DeCapua (Laura DeCapua) of Aurora, Illinois, and their daughter, Makenna DeCapua. Dom’ was born in Detroit, Michigan on November 26, 1938 to Caterina and Giuseppe DeCapua. He was the youngest of four children and is survived by his sister Rose Diambrosio of Detroit, Michigan. His brothers, Tony DeCapua and Danny DeCapua are deceased. Domenic graduated from Wilbur Wright Institute with an Academic Degree and majored in Auto Mechanics. He continued his education, earning several licenses in Electrical Engineering. Domenic was able to travel the world serving the U.S. Navy for three years and the Navy Reserves for another three years. Domenic married Peggy Springstead, the love of his life in 1961. Their true American love story began as childhood neighbors. When Dom’ returned from the Navy, he realized that he could not live without Peggy, the girl next door. Dom’ and Peggy celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary on September 6, 2022. They shared two exceptional vow renewals, one in Hawaii in 1991 to celebrate 30 years of love and marriage and a second one in Nashville where they celebrated with “Elvis” and close friends on their 60th anniversary in 2021. Domenic and Peggy have enjoyed living in different places including the cities of Warren, Roseville, Taylor, and Jackson in Michigan as well as Tellico Village near Knoxville, Tennessee, and more recently Lady Lake, near The Villages in Florida. Domenic made many sacrifices for his family including driving over a thousand miles a week to work in the Auto Industry. He worked for Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, Michigan for over 36 years as a Power Service Engineer, utilizing his advanced licenses in Electrical Engineering. Domenic loved boating and watching Michigan football with his family, often taking Sheila and Mike to stadium games. “Nicky” (as his true love Peggy called him) will be remembered for his kind and gentle spirit, his great sense of humor, and above all, his love for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Like many of their generation, Domenic and Peggy gave their lives to the Lord during the Jesus Revolution movement. Domenic developed a love of worship which prompted him to take his children and the church youth groups through the years to Christian music festivals. This love of worship continued with Domenic taking his family on the K-Love Christian Music Cruises annually for nearly a decade. A "Celebration of Life" will be held at the Life Church Assembly of God, 4001 Picciola Road, Fruitland Park, Florida 34731 on April 13th at 11:00 A.M. Pastor Bill Leach, Domenic and Peggy’s longtime Michigan Pastor, fondly dubbed their “forever pastor,” will be officiating. Interment will be at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida at the convenience of the family with Naval Honor Guard in attendance. In lieu of flowers, Domenic has requested that memorial gifts be given to the Life Church Missions Fund or donate to the Tunnels to Towers Foundation, website: www.T2T.org. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.DignityMemorialWildwood.com for the DeCapua family.
