Jack Arthur Mason, 88, of Leesburg, FL, formerly of Frankenmuth, Michigan, passed away on September 12, 2026. He was born February 18, 1938 to John and Alice Mason in Saginaw, MI. Jack was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, and a pillar of every community in which he lived. Community service was central to his entire life. He will be remembered for the warmth he brought into a room and the easy smile he shared so freely. Jack leaves behind his wife of 68 years, Sue, daughters Jackie (Denny) Jabs and Sherri Mason; brother Fred (Marilyn), five grand kids, and seven great grand kids.
Jack worked his entire career for General Motors, designing patterns for engine blocks. He was also a master wood carver and instructor, and a musician. Through patient hands and a craftsman’s care, he created pieces that became part of the fabric of family and community traditions—many of his creations still appear each holiday season, quietly carrying his presence forward.
A lifelong lover of the water, Jack’s appreciation for lakes and boating began in childhood on the shores of the Great Lakes. He was an active member of the Saginaw Bay Power Squadron and took particular pride in teaching water safety to fellow boaters in Michigan, helping ensure that others could safely enjoy the lakes as deeply as he did. Wherever life took him, Jack and Sue were never without the comfort and joy of four-legged companionship.
Jack was an avid golfer when he first arrived at The Plantation at Leesburg and stayed closely involved with the softball community over the years, both as a player and a manager. More recently, he could be found at Saturday cornhole, offering encouragement and camaraderie. Jack leaves behind many friends who will mourn alongside Sue and the girls, and who will miss his stories, his steady presence, and the simple kindness of his smile.
A memorial service for Jack will be announced at a later date.
