

Joseph “Poppy” Plesniak
August 15, 1936 – April 26, 2025
Joseph “Poppy” Plesniak, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother passed away peacefully on April 26, 2025, at the age of 88.
Born on August 15, 1936, Joseph served his country in the United States Air Force. A man of great loyalty and spirit, he was a lifelong fan of the New York Giants,the Brooklyn Dodgers and the New York Mets. He always cheered on his teams with great enthusiasm. He also found joy on the golf course.
Joseph’s keen business mind created a successful career in sales. In retirement, his focus changed to the stock market. His day revolved around the Half Time Report and The Closing Bell.
His final days were spent surrounded by family, watching the stock market and the NFL Draft.
Joseph is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Mary Ann; his sister Dorothy Kauffman, his loving daughters, Jill Austin and her husband Bruce Austin, Leigh Plesniak, and Jennifer Plesniak; six adoring grandchildren; and one cherished great-grandson, Vince. Known affectionately as “Poppy,” he will be remembered for his kindness, humor, and the deep love he had for his family.
A life well-lived and a heart well-loved — Joseph Plesniak’s legacy will continue to shine brightly through all who knew and loved him.
A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 am on May 24, 2025 at the St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, 5323 E County Rd 462, Wildwood, FL 34785. Following the mass, a repast will be held at Colony Cottage Pool & Recreation Center, 510 Colony Blvd, The Villages, FL 32162.
