Abuela,
 I keep thinking about all the moments we shared—the way you looked at me with so much love. I miss calling you “mija”… I miss hearing your laugh right after, seeing that beautiful smile that lit up everything around you. Those little moments meant everything to me, and now they’re the ones my heart reaches for the most.

I’ll always cherish the drive to Florida—the time we spent together, just talking and laughing like nothing else in the world mattered. Those moments are forever in my heart, and I replay them often, wishing I could go back and live them all over again.

I keep thinking about the afternoons we spent just watching Judge Judy or Family Feud. At the time, it felt like such a small thing, but now I realize those were the moments I cherished most. I miss the sound of your commentary on the show, the way we’d laugh at the ridiculous answers on the game shows, and just the quiet comfort of being in your presence. I wasn’t ready to let you go, Abuela. I don’t think I ever will be.  It hurts to know I can’t hear your laugh anymore.

Thank you for the gift of your time and for making the simplest moments feel like home. I miss you more than I can put into words. Thank you for the stillness. Thank you for the way you didn't need me to be anything other than your grandchild. You taught me that love isn't always big gestures; sometimes it's just sitting together in the quiet, watching the TV, and knowing I was safe because I was with you.

R.I.P. Lucy. You welcomed me into your family in 1980 That's when I met your son Angelo,  I got to meet you, millo, Maria and the rest of your children that lived there with you.  I have very fond memories of you,  you treated me like one of your own, your husband millo a very smart man,  hardworking man, family oriented man. Thank you for allowing me to be part of your family and I will miss you, rest in the heavens above. ✝️✝️✝️

Titi, part of me is still in disbelief knowing you are no longer here. My heart is heavy, and I miss you more than words can explain. I will miss your daily posts and the joy you brought into our lives.

You were more than family to me—you were like a mother. You helped raise me into the woman I am today, and for that I will be forever grateful. My children will always love you like their grandmother and will carry your love in their hearts.

Thank you for your guidance, your love, and the beautiful memories we shared. Until the day we meet again, rest peacefully in heaven with the rest of our family. You will always be in my heart. I love you forever. ❤️

It’s hard to say goodbye, and my heart hurts knowing you’re no longer here with us. As my last remaining grandparent I was blessed to have you for 43 years of my life and I’m grateful for all the time we shared.

Thank you for the love you gave so freely and for always being someone we could turn to. Your kindness, your strength, and the way you cared for everyone around you are things I will never forget. Many of my favorite memories include you, and I will hold on to them forever. I will never forget Thanksgivings in your home or being with all our family at your parent’s house in Springfield and how happy you were to be surrounded by your children and grandchildren. So many of my favorite childhood memories took place in your home.

You meant so much to all of us. The love you poured into our family will continue to live on in our hearts and in the way we take care of one another. Even though you're no longer here with us, your spirit and your love will always be part of our lives.

I will miss you more than words can ever say, Abuela. Thank you for being such a beautiful and irreplaceable part of my life. Say hi to Abuelo and to the rest of the Peña family Tio Chico, Titi Carmen, Titi Nimia, Tio Ivan, Titi Santy and of course Abuelo (Severiano) and Abuela (Hilda). I hope you all are having one huge family embrace.

I thank my God for the final weeks he gave you. For the Spirit that rested with you as your body began its transition. How strong my testimony grew, sitting there, reading through the book of John. 

After reading the last verse, of the last chapter; 

“25 But there are also many other things that Jesus did; if every one of them were written down, I suppose that the world itself could not contain the books that would be written.”

I found myself lost for words as I tried to reflect on the impact both you and Abuelo had on me. I was met with confusion, anger (at myself) even, that it’s now, when I’ve reached a place of understanding and true appreciation for years of your “unrecorded” love, that built me into the man I am today. I thought of Christ, and the impact he had on so many, who at the time, didn’t see the Savior, standing right in front of them. 

And maybe that’s the point.

Not every miracle gets recorded. Not every act of love finds its way into words. Some of it just lives — in the people who were shaped by it. 

In the rooms that still feel different because you were once in them, in the way I instinctively reach for patience in a hard moment and recognize, only after, that it was part of what I learned from you. And all this, because you lived a life of quiet, faithful perseverance. 

I spent years in the presence of something I didn’t yet have the eyes to fully see.

And now — when 39 years of quiet faithfulness, of bendiciones whispered over grandchildren, of hands that worked and arms that held and a life that pointed — when all of it came into focus, I understood something about grace I hadn’t before.

That it doesn’t announce itself.

It just shows up. Consistently. Lovingly. Until one day you realize it built you.

That’s what you did. That’s what He does.
And in that, I found peace — not the peace of losing you, but the peace of finally understanding what I was given. Gratitude followed, quieter than I expected, heavier and warmer at the same time.

Every time we saw each other you would ask me about abuelo’s hammer. I still have it, I still use it, and I still remember the lesson taught, by the simple act of him gifting it to me 20+ years ago. I recognize now that it wasn’t the hammer you were really concerned with. It was the smiles that would come to both of our faces when the memories would flood our hearts. That question shaped my heart to love in a way that creates memories, to light the souls of those who I share the memories with. That quality always outlasts quantity. 

And the quality of your love was such that I knew our God lives. That perfection is never a requirement. That boundaries fall away when love is at the root of it all.

And I know…

I know you loved Heavenly Father. I know you loved Jesus Christ — not as distant figures, but as the anchors of your daily life. I watched it. We all did, even when we didn’t have words for what we were seeing.

I know you strived — imperfectly, faithfully, persistently — to live a life worthy of that love. And in doing so, you didn’t just live your faith. You built ours.

The generations that follow you carry something we didn’t earn. We inherited it. Through your hands, your prayers, your bendiciones, your questions about an old hammer - you were always, quietly, passing something forward. 

And I believe you are still working. Still interceding. Still carrying it forward — waiting for the morning when we are all gathered again, when every embrace withheld by distance or time or death is finally returned, under the fullness of God’s love.

Until then, I hold to His promise:

“Very truly, I tell you, anyone who hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and does not come under judgment but has passed from death to life.”
— John 5:24

You heard. You believed. You lived it.
And so you live. In spirit, in memories, in our hearts, and with Him. 

Your life reminds me of the words written to Timothy:

“I am grateful to God-whom I worship with a clear conscience, as my ancestors did —when I remember you constantly in my prayers night and day….I am reminded of your sincere faith, a faith that lived first in your grandmother…and your mother…and now, I am sure, lives in you.” - 2 Timothy 1:3-5

I see that faith now — in the memories you left behind, in the love you passed forward, and even in the quiet lessons that still live in something as simple as an old hammer resting in my hands.

God be with us, till we meet again.

We spoke the last time I saw you.
Although, you couldn’t say a word. 
But words aren’t love.

that last “I love you” whispered,

I knew as I gazed in your eyes,
That you were preparing.

My shirt still smelled of your gentleness
I…still lost in your thoughtful eyes.
Eyes that watched us grow.
Eyes that watched the world change,
but that always stayed fixed on Him.

I know that He is true, 
because I watched you,
walk the path of faith.

Rest now,
Your work here is finished. 

I held on to every bendicíon as my fingers slipped from your hand. 
I smile, while I cry, as the memories become what’s left.
Before they called,

I saw you dancing again —

Every blessing you spoke over us,

Hi Abuela. In reading all the messages left for you it’s not hard to tell how much you meant to so many people, how much love was shared by and for you. The impact you’ve had on others flows through your children, grandchildren and great grandchildren as this family tree branches out from you. I’m grateful to be a part of this tree that stems from your love.

When I first met TIti Lucy she was admired from me and my kids sue  to so much oLOve she gave all of us here in Virginia. She was an iinspiration and an example to all of us. I am deeply grateful that I was able to spend the last weeks of my grandmother’s life by her side, caring for her alongside my mom. That time together is something I will cherish forever.

For 38 years I was blessed to have her in my life, and I will miss her more than words can express.

I find comfort knowing she is now reunited with my grandfather, who has been waiting for her for the past 15 years. Now they can finally be together again and rest in peace.

I love you forever, Grandma. I will miss that beautiful face so much.
