

Richard Gonzalez, 62, passed away on June 15, 2023 in the comfort of his home with his beloved wife, Myrna Gonzalez of 40 years by his side. He was born December 14, 1960 in Brooklyn, NY and most recently resided in Wildwood, FL. “Richie”, as he was lovingly called, shared his creativity and craftsmanship while working as a master jeweler for over 20 years. He became a spiritual leader who was passionate about his faith and love for Jesus Christ, served as a Deacon at the Lighthouse Tabernacle Church in Staten Island, NY for many years and was later called to lead young men while serving as a Chaplain for the Tampa Yankees minor league baseball team. He served on the Board of Directors of Youth Challenge of Florida. He also did ministry work for Youth Challenge International, and went on mission trips to Guatemala and Venezuela.
Richie will be remembered for his fun loving nature, giant personality and contagious laugh that made him the life of every party. He was known to always share a funny joke or trick up his sleeve. He will be remembered as an avid outdoorsman who loved riding motorcycles, hunting, fishing and boating. He later developed an interest in gaming and utilized it as a way to bond with his grandchildren.
Richie is predeceased by his parents, Pedro Gonzalez and Adele Fernandez. He is survived by his wife, Myrna Gonzalez, faithful canine companion “Cookie”, sons, Robert Gonzalez (Deborah) and Jason Gonzalez (Angela), grandchildren, Joshua, Rebekah, Rachel, Jeremy, Peter and Giuseppe who are his absolute pride and joy as well as many nieces and nephews who viewed him as a mentor, role model, father figure and best friend. Richie touched the lives of countless friends, family and strangers while connecting with them seamlessly through his genuine love for others. He will be painfully missed and remembered by those whose lives he has touched.
