Shirley Ann Schesso, 88, of Wildwood, Florida, entered her eternal rest on May 10, 2026 at Cornerstone Hospice in The Villages, Florida, surrounded by the love of her family and the peace of her Savior.
Born on September 14, 1937, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Shirley grew up with a deep sense of family faith, and loyalty values that shaped her entire life. She graduated from Minneapolis Vocational High School in 1955, but her greatest education came from the roles she cherished most: wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.
Shirley married the love of her life, Don Schesso, and together they built a home marked by warmth, laughter, and unwavering devotion. Their marriage was a testament to partnership and faithfulness, and Shirley carried Don's memory with her every day after his passing.
Shirley's joy was found in the people she loved. She poured her heart into her children, Mark (Norene) Magnuson and Jodi (Tank) Dornburg, and delighted in watching her family grow through her grandchildren-Jaime (Joshua) Green, Lindsay (Grant) Farnum, Melody (Spencer) Sand, and Kaitlyn (Jade) Hayft -and her twelve great-grandchildren: Tobias, Silas, Archer, Cohen, Summit, Milo, Declan, Haven, Jamin, Brooks, Teagan, and Harper. Each one held a special place in her heart. Shirley was a beloved aunt to all her nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Don; her brothers George and Donald; and her sister Marlene. Though she missed them dearly, Shirley lived with the quiet confidence that she would see them again.
Shirley's life was marked by gentleness, generosity, and a steadfast faith in Jesus Christ. She loved deeply, listened well, and made every person feel seen. Her home was a place of welcome; her presence, a source of comfort. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, devotion, and a family knit together by love.
A graveside prayer service will be held in Mesa, AZ on Tuesday June 23, 2026 at 10:00am at Mountain View Cemetery 7900 E Main St. Mesa, AZ 85207. In lieu of flowers, gifts or cards may be directed in Shirley's memory to: St. Luke Lutheran Church 807 N Stapley Dr Mesa, AZ 85203.
Shirley's family celebrates her life with gratitude thankful for her faith, her laughter, her wisdom, and the love she gave so freely. She ran her race well, and now rests in the arms of her Savior.
"Well done, good and faithful servant."
