December 19, 1965September 7, 2018

Darin L. Newmyer (52) of Shelby passed September 7, 2018 surrounded by his family at the Cleveland Clinic following a heart attack. He was born December 19, 1965 in Willard to Robert and Carole (Duley) Newmyer. Darin was a truck driver for over 30 years. His love for trucking came from his father. Darin started working for Dutchmaid in Celeryville when he was 18. He then worked for K&P in Willard from 1988-1990 where he received a new truck with his name on the door and was the first driver to drive to Utah. Next he worked for CCX from 1990-2003. During that time he competed for 2 years in state competitions, won a state competition and competed in Nationals. He received safe driving pins each year at CCX. Darin’s dream came true when he bought his own truck and drove for Estes in 2004. Following Estes he sold his truck and worked for Holland. When Holland laid off, Darin went to work at Linde delivering garage doors. He then started driving over the road for Wal-Mart. Darin loved working at Wal-Mart and always remarked “like family.” To Darin his faith, family and friends were very important to him. He loved NASCAR, OSU and being with family at home. Darin will be greatly missed by all. Darin is survived by his mother: Carole Newmyer of Celeryville, wife of 12 years: Kelly (Garrett) Newmyer of Shelby, 4 children: Kyle and Tara (Poock) Newmyer of Columbus, Jarred and Rachel (Brown) Newmyer of Medina, and twins Luke and Samantha Newmyer both at home, brother: Grant Newmyer of Tampa, FL and sister: Cyndi (Paul) Knackstedt of Lexington. He was preceded in death by his father: Robert H. Newmyer, brother: Robert A. Newmyer and sister-in-law: Christine Newmyer. I met Darin while working at Estep Express when he was laid off from USF Holland. We shared many late night conversations as we drove through the night. One of my favorite memories of Darin was in about 2004 or 05, our families met in Bristol for the NASCAR race, and we were able to "give" the track tour passes we had acquired, to him, Kyle, and Jarred so they could see their favorite cars and drivers. Debbie, Meghan, Kelcie, and I will miss him. You couldn't ask to ever meet a better person, and I will miss our late night chats.

To all whose lives Darin touched and loved: May you find comfort in the love and treasured memories. Darin was a wonderful man of God. Always friendly and showed concern for others. We were privileged to have crossed paths with him in this life. We are so thankful for the promise of seeing him again one day in the eternity of Heaven. So very sorry to his wife, children, mother and immediate family to have your hearts so broken. God is closest to the broken in heart. Darin now walks with God. We are praying for you in the difficult days you face. May God be your comforter. Gone too soon.

Kyle and Jarred,
So sorry to read about your dads passing.
We have watched you both grow up and know how strong and polite you have turned out to be. Your dad sounds like he was a good man.
