

Duane E. Slessman (83) of Plymouth died Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at his home. He was born October 16, 1931 to the late Neil H. and Velma I. (Moon) Slessman. Duane was a graduate of New Haven High School, class of 1949 and worked as a truck driver for Dutchmaid and as a self-employed contractor. He was a member of the New Haven United Methodist Church where he was a lay leader of the church, participated in the Walk to Emmaus and bowled on the New Haven Shell bowling team.
Duane is survived by his wife: Dorothy E. (Marshall) Slessman, whom he married November 27, 1949. He is also survived by 7 children: Diane (Ted) Plas of Wellington, Dennis (Sharon) Slessman of Fuquay Varina, NC, Debra (Steve) Buss of Willard, Duane "Eddie" (Kerin) Slessman of Pattonsburg, MO, Doreen (Dan) Weller of Ellicott City, MD, Dwight (Kim) Slessman of Greenville, SC, DaLee (Bret) Scott of Jackson, TN, and 19 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, sister: Shirley Heckman of Willard, sisters in law: Corky Slessman and Kathy Slessman, both of Willard, and brother-in-law: Chuck Podgurski of Plymouth. He was preceded by his parents, 2 brothers: Cloyce and Raymond Slessman and sister: Inez Podgurski.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 7, 2015 at the New Haven United Methodist Church. Burial will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery, New Haven. Friends may call Saturday from 9:30 AM until the time of the service at 11 AM at the church.
