A. Coleman Ragsdale, 91, died on Monday, June 26, 2023.
Coleman was born in Dinwiddie County, VA, and was a resident of Williamsburg, VA and Nags Head, NC. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
After attending the University of Richmond, Coleman spent his professional life in retail management and customer service. Owner of Cole & Scott Gentleman’s Clothing in Williamsburg and Newport News, he was a member of the Lions Club for over 50 years, founding the New Town chapter. He was an avid fan and supporter of William and Mary basketball and football and a longtime member of Hickory Neck Episcopal Church. Coleman & Ann were among the first residents of New Town and regular patrons of Center Street Grill.
Coleman is survived by his wife, Ann Hancock Ragsdale; daughters, Katherine Hancock Ragsdale (Margaret Ewing Lloyd) and Harriett Ann Ragsdale Mills (Carl Mills); son, Edwin Coleman Ragsdale (Amy Webb Ragsdale); grandchildren, Cameron Ambler Ragsdale, Lauren Parrish Mills Robards (Taylor Robards), Nicholas Edwin Ragsdale (Victoria Long Ragsdale); great-granddaughter, Sara Emery Robards; brother, Julian Ragsdale; and sisters-in-law, Alice Ragsdale and Juanita Ragsdale.
A funeral service will be held at St. Martin's Episcopal Church, 1333 Jamestown Rd., Williamsburg, VA 23185 on Saturday, July 8th at 11:00AM with an inurnment at a later date at Hickory Neck Episcopal Church cemetery.
