IN THE CARE OF

Nelsen Williamsburg

Ann Marie Boyden, passed away from heart failure November 29, 2021, at home in Williamsburg, VA. Ann Marie lived a life of accomplishment and achievement. Her skill and determination, coupled with a highly creative mind provided a long history of professional and personal success. As a graduate of the University of Utah and Westminster College Salt Lake City, she crafted careers with a successful advertising agency, et.al. and as Executive Director of American Institute of Architects Trust, Washington, D.C. Ann Marie retired full time to Williamsburg, VA in 2002. Ann Marie’s life unfolded in a variety of twists and turns that led her in many different directions. She learned to play golf at age 8 which was a benefit to her subsequent professional career and later a two-time 9-hole club champion of Fords Colony Country Club. She wanted to be an actress but wound up with awards for producing and direction including a CLIO and an International Broadcasting Award. She acted in many plays including Fiddler on the Roof as Golda at Promise Valley Playhouse in S.L.S. Influenced throughout her life by her mother Frances and father Walter, Ann Marie was encouraged and supported in all her endeavors. Their encouragement instilled in her the belief that she could do anything she put her mind to. She was ever grateful for the love and support of family. Some of Ann Marie’s greatest joys have been writing poetry, with two books published, a photography show and awards for the photography hobby she loved and as designation as an honorary member of the American Institute of Architects. Ann Marie struck a balance between artistic, athletic and professional creativity. Her commitments to friends and family and her deep faith were sustaining cornerstone of her character. The service will be held Sunday, January 23, 2022 at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd, Williamsburg, VA at 2PM.
