Annelle Pyle Bryant passed away at home with her loving husband, on June 7, 2022 at the age of 83. She was born on March 8, 1939 in Bristol, Virginia to parents Emma Holston (Greenwood) Pyle and George Edmonson Pyle. She had the opportunity to live in many places in Virginia, as well as Tennessee, Georgia, Texas and Michigan, finding her last resting place in Williamsburg, Virginia.
She attended Tennessee Wesleyan College in Athens, Tennessee for two years and then completed her education degree at the University of Tennessee. She was an active member of the Pi Phi sorority, and following in her mother’s footsteps, became a teacher upon graduation. Annelle and Eddie married in 1961, and she taught school while Eddie completed his engineering degree at the University of Virginia.
Annelle loved her family dearly - nothing made her happier than a week at the beach with family. She made many new friends during her retirement years in both Michigan and Virginia, playing golf and pickle-ball in her early retirement years, but her biggest love was the game of bridge. She and Ed had played since college and she was an intuitive wizard of the game, playing many times a week with both women’s and couple’s groups. She was also proud to be a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and a member of the Williamsburg United Methodist Church.
She was predeceased by her parents, Emma and George E. Pyle. Her father passed away when she was only 10. Annelle spoke often of her father’s legacy as a college football coach. He named the University of Florida football team the Florida Gators just prior to an undefeated season, and participated in the Bacardi Bowl in Cuba.
Annelle is survived by her husband, Carl Edgar Bryant; her sister Louise Candler; her son and daughter-in-law Steve and Lauren Bryant; her daughter Elizabeth Bryant; her grandchildren, Mason and Carson Robinson; as well as six nieces and nephews; and her best friend in the world, Mary Kay Dishner.
She will be greatly missed by all.
