To Arnett's Family,
I was so saddened just today to learn of Arnett's passing .  I am attending a wedding in Williamsburg on Memorial Day and tried to look her up.  We were tennis partners in Countryside  and shared so many stories and laughs together whether it was on the tennis courts, the golf course, or over a glass of wine.  She was a remarkable woman and I treasured our friendship.  I don't know much of the family except Fred and his family.  Fred, if you would contact me at karenschroeder1@aol.com, I would so appreciate it.  Your Mom meant the world to me.  I knew she wasn't well, but the last time I spoke with her she said she was still playing golf.  Love to you all.

Our hearts were broken to hear that Arnett passed away.  She and John were both dear friends of ours and we often visited in their home and then they would reciprocate by coming to ours. Arnett brought so much love and joy to our family.  She was Dad's dearest love.  I can never thank her and her family enough for all the many rich years of happiness they shared together.  Arnett had it all; intelligence, beauty and she's the quintessential southern woman with her wonderful gifts of grace, hospitality and charm.  Hers was a compassionate, deeply caring heart.  Her energy seemed to know no bounds and her zest for living was absolutely contagious.  She changed our lives for the better, the moment she came into our family and I am so glad she did.  Thank you, Arnett, for the many years of devoted love and happiness you gave Dad.  He adores you still and forever.

Please accept our deepest sympathy on the loss of your dear mother.  We did not know that she had been ill, so her death was quite a shock to us.  We were in communication with Arnett until about 15 or so months ago.  We first met her when she started dating John.  We had many happy times with them both while we were living in Maryland.  After we moved to North Carolina they moved to Florida.  We had two wonderful visits with them there in Trinity.  Yes - she was a wonderful cook and hostess and so much fun! Yam was and is the best grandmother a girl could ask for! Some of my fondest memories as a child involve going to stay with her  and John in Tampa with my cousin every summer for a week. Though she will be forever missed here on earth she is in the best place she could be in the hands of
The Lord. I love you yam!

Mom is and was a precious soul. She was the BEST mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, sister, mother-in-law, aunt and wife in the whole wide world. She was a blessing to all lives she touched. I love you sooooo much mom.

Arnett will be sorely missed.  I cannot go by Itchiban without
thinking of her and our meals there.  We had many wonderful memories, and I treasure all of them.  That picture looks just

I attended Westhampton College for two years before going on to nursing school at MCV. Arnett is one of my very best friends though I had not seen her for a long time. At Westhampton she and I took Chemistry 101 together. The first day we had lab I had a very hard time setting up an experiment as I came from a small high school with almost no chemistry lab equipment... I thought it would take me forever to do this. Arnett wasn't far from me and I noticed she was just doing it very fast and efficiently. Even though I believe she majored in science?? not sure...at that time she wasn't particularly interested in reading the book... I didn't mind that part of it. The next day, our lab assistant, or professor,  told us that we could choose a lab partner. Of course I chose Arnett and lab went great after that. She taught me along the way. Also, our sophomore year, when we were filling out our schedules of classes, Arnett and I both happened to have one slot open in the morning that we could chose an elective. (I had certain classes I had to take in order to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing) We knew  the Professor of Religion who at that time was head of the department; So we decided to take his class, and though we couldn't get the one we wanted, we had Minor Prophets in the Bible. We loved the class; if you listened it was an easy A but he always went overtime. We ran up the road to Westhampton for our next class, and could never get there quite on time. Those professors just said "do the best you can". Also, Arnett and Ruth Owen lived in the room right below mine and my roommates sophomore year, and there was a little curved stairway up just by my room. I love Arnett for so many things... ;much of it was her laughter. Sorry this is long, but I cannot get to her service and wanted the family to know how I feel about her. Arnett brought a ray of sunshine wherever she went.  She was a true and loving friend whose memory I will treasure forever.

Arnett had many good friends in Heritage Springs in Florida.  Everyone was sorry to have her move away but knew that her family could look after her more easily in Virginia.  Arnett was the first person, a lovely, friendly lady with a big smile, to welcome us to our neighborhood.  She and John were wonderful friends and neighbors.  Arnett had more than her share of suffering, but she endured it all with fierce determination.  She will be missed.

We are so sad to hear the news about our beloved Aunt Arnett. We will miss her so! But we feel good knowing that she is now pain-free and is having fun in Heaven with Grandmom & Grandaddy Kizzia & Uncle John, Aunt Nancy & Uncle George. We know we will see her again and until that time she will be watching over her kids and sisters and all of us from Heaven. Kiss Kiss! We had the ultimate honor & privilege of having Arnett as our next door neighbor here in Trinity for 10 years. Her smile would light up the world, her laughter was beyond contagious & her cooking divinely delicious! Every time she called us simply saying the word "SOUP" we knew what we were having for dinner that night! Our memories with & of her are precious & priceless but we know she is now with her beloved John. To you, her wonderful family, many of whom we have gotten to know over the years, we say "Thank You" for sharing her with us as well as for your friendships. She will be missed but we will hold her memory in our hearts here in the Bend forever. Blessings to you all as you honor & celebrate her beautiful life.
