May I extend my thoughts, condolences, and heartfelt prayers to the Henretta family at this difficult time. Over the last few years, I came to know Art through his son, "Artie." We shared many philosophical, religious, and political view points.
Arthur always had kind words and outstanding, sincere advice whenever I would discuss an area of difficulty or concern with him. 
I sincerely wish that I had gotten to know you sooner. You will truly be missed- more than you could ever imagine. May you rest in peace, Arthur.

As a young boy growing up in Williamsburg, I always admired and looked up to Art. His "uber cool demeanor," prowess on the baseball diamond, and good looks contributed to my admiration of this kind man. Years later Art and I became friends on social media and we both realized that we shared common interests, political viewpoints, and life experiences. Because of Facebook, our friendship was forever sealed. I will miss you, Art. RIP, MY FRIEND.....

To the family of Art my condolences. He was my 1st supervisor so many years ago. He was awesome as my supervisor and even better as a person. He will be missed by many people. God bless the family during this difficult time, give them strength.

My thoughts are with his family. It saddens me to know that he's gone, I'm his next door neighbor. We didn't speak much but he was always so nice to us. I always thought he was a very nice man. Because as a kid every year he went out of his way to make sure he bought me and my little sister candy every Halloween. He did not pass out candy but he always made sure he got us something. He will be greatly missed.

Arthur was a very kind soul who extended that kindness to the animals, who need all the friends they can get. We will miss him, here at PETA and send his family and friends our wishes for strength and fond memories to replace all sadness.  Kind regards, Ingrid Newkirk, president, PETA

Words are difficult at a time like this.  My prayers and thoughts to the whole family and friends at this great loss to all of you.  I go back to childhood and high school for memories.  Eventually the good memories will sustain you and comfort you in this loss.

Losing my Uncle Ivy is like losing my father all over again.  I loved him dearly.  My dad looked up to his brother and loved him also and so did we.  We use to love getting together as a family and the two of them would talk and laugh. They would tell stories of growing up and the memories they shared. Childhood stories with their sister, my Aunt Debbie.  It was always a cherished time.  I loved being with him because he reminded me of him so much.  His great smile, his contagious laughter and humor.  Uncle Ivy was one of the kindest, gentlest people I've ever known.  He loved animals.  He and his wife Judy would feed about every bird and squirrel in Hampton.  He was proud of his family and simple and honest.  I  will miss talking with him and listening to his life stories.  He was a great friend to many and a true Virginian.  I hurt dearly for Artie, David, Chrisitie and Little Bill.  He was so proud of you and loved you so much, but I know you know that.

My most sincere condolences go to my ECU brother's family.  Art and I became good friends in the early 60s at ECC.  His love for his family, friends and animals was well known by those who knew Art.  To know Art was to love Art and he will truly be missed by those of us who had the opportunity to know Art, the loving son, father, grandfather and protector of all God's little creatures, great and small.  I love you Art!
