Arthur (Art) Monroe, age 80, passed away on February 7, 2022, in his Toano home surrounded by his loved ones. He faced his battle with cancer with calm courage and positivity and continued making others laugh until the end, fiercely guarding his York Peppermint Patties.
Born in California on November 2, 1941, Art served our country and was a career master electrician who continued to serve others with his talents long after retirement. He was a valued member of the community and enriched the lives of family, friends, and anyone he encountered, bringing joy and laughter to each room he entered. He loved telling stories, playing practical jokes, and he had a creative sense of giving and strong sense of humor, often swapping lemons for lemon pie.
He will be fondly remembered as a devoted husband and beloved Grandpa Art, brother, uncle, stepdad, loyal friend, champion fixer of all things, and a generous, kind, and caring soul.
Art is survived by his wife, Lillian Monroe; his sister and brother-in-law, Lois and Phil Young; his stepdaughters and stepsons-in-law; grandchildren; nieces; great nieces; and great nephews.
