Barbara Temple Lombardi

Barbara was a great woman, a loving mother, a wonderful wife and one of the most talented and beautiful people imaginable. She raised three children virtually on her own, and they all grew up to be creative and successful adults. Kristin, owner of an interior design studio, Joshua, an industrial engineer, and Amanda, a business owner and professional photographer. To make sure her children had the opportunity to succeed she often worked two and sometimes three jobs, ran a successful business and somehow found the time and energy to put herself through college as an adult.

She put her education and her love of photography to work in the Photo Services Department of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation where her photographs adorned the walls of the Williamsburg Lodge and other buildings, and were the basis of four books published by the Foundation. In her spare time she painted and wrote, and published a cookbook of her own recipes, illustrated by her brilliant photographs.

She married Michael Lombardi and they spent the last 25 years loving each other. Barbara had a knack for making people comfortable and she developed a wide network of friends from across the country who kept in touch throughout the years, and sent their love and prayers while she struggled with this terrible disease.

She had a challenging life, but she met all the challenges with grace, devotion, skill and courage, and overcame them to flourish. She will be forever sorely missed, but her life greatly celebrated.
