

Betty was born and raised in the Williamsburg area and was the daughter of the late Meredith and Gladys Jump. She retired from the U.S. Postal Service. She had volunteered with several local civic organizations throughout her life.
Betty had been an avid quilter with her quilting friends at Norge Community Club, where she was a long-time member. She was also an active member of her church, Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church, for most of her life. Betty used her retirement years to be available for others who needed a helping hand and was a loving grandmother and great-grandmother to her own and to other children as well.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, William Stuart Brantley, Sr. and her sister Catherine Ripley. She is survived by her children, William Stuart Brantley, Jr. and his wife Janna, and Timothy Alan Brantley, all of Williamsburg; by her grandson, Justin Stuart Brantley; her great-grandchildren Malachi, Caleb and Shiloh; her brother-in-law Bob Ripley and his children and grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church on Thursday, May 21, at 2:00 PM.
