Bobby Brean Sanders, Sr.

Bobby Brean Sanders, Sr., 83, passed away on December 6, 2020 in Williamsburg, VA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl William Sanders and Elsie Mae (Cordle) Sanders; two brothers, Billy Jack Sanders and Eugene Sanders; and one sister, Betty Jean Tilson.

Bobby served in the Air Force as an Airman Third Class, military police, from 1954-1958. He was a police sergeant with the College of William and Mary, and retired after 29 years of state service, in 1990. He was a man who loved life and family, always had a smile, and never met a stranger. He would always be ready to help anyone in need. During his time with the police department, he risked his life to save multiple students from a burning dorm, and was security for visiting diplomats, celebrities and alumni, and was always an example of honesty and integrity. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed sports and to referee volley ball games and tournaments.

Bobby was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a devout Christian, and a member of the Calvary Free Will Baptist Church in Williamsburg, VA.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Geneva Lorene (Boyd) Sanders; two daughters, Mary Ann Smith (Jerry), Deborah Kay Schultz (Eric); and one son, Bobby Brean Sanders, Jr.; five grandchildren, Shawn Avery Smith, Derek Andrew Smith (Kira), Courtney Nicole Sanders, Amber Leann Sanders, and Caleb Conner Schultz; five great grandchildren, Mitchell Adams, Raevin Adams, Kara Smith, Braylin Smith, and Jayden Sanders; two sisters, Reba Ann Marrs (Mike), and Linda Croswell; one brother, Kenneth Joe Sanders; two sister-in-laws, Beryl Sanders and Emily Sanders; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many close friends.

A Celebration of life Service will be held on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at 11am at Calvary Free Will Baptist Church, 1042 Penniman Road, Williamsburg, VA.
