Brian E. Hebert, 72, of Williamsburg, Virginia passed away on August 22, 2024. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Marguerite (Healy) Hebert; Father-in-law, Gabriel Pereira; and brother-in-law, Emil Brenkus.
Brian traveled much in his early life as his parents and their four children moved from base to base as part of his father’s Naval career. Upon his father’s retirement, the family settled in the greater Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area where Brian excelled as an athlete in pole vault and football at Thomas Jefferson High School. Subsequently, Brian attended Indiana State University on a football scholarship and received both BS and MS degrees. Upon graduation, Brian moved to Hampton, Virginia where he began a 34 year career as a teacher and coach and met the love of his life, Pam Pereira. He held teacher and coaching positions at Kecoughtan High School as well as coaching positions at Bethel High School and Ferguson High School in Newport News. Upon retirement, Brian and Pam moved to Williamsburg where they settled in as members of the Colonial Heritage Community and began second careers as loving grandparents to their six grandchildren who affectionately called Brian “Coachie”.
Brian is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Pam (Pereira) Hebert; his daughters, Erin Long (Richard) of Williamsburg, Virginia and Lauren Scott (Jeff) of Poquoson, Virginia; his grandchildren, Tyson, Tessa, and Tucker Long and Walter, JJ, and Patrick Scott; his brother, Colonel (Ret.) Joseph Hebert (Sue) of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; his sisters, Pat Brenkus of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina and Meg Saeli (Joe) of Buffalo, New York; his mother-in-law, Joyce Pereira of Hampton, Virginia; his brothers-in-law, David Pereira (Kathy) of Salem, Virginia and Jeff Pereira (Beth) of Hampton, Virginia; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
A private funeral service will be held for family only. For friends and family, a celebration of Brian’s life will be held on September 20, 2024 from 5-8 pm at the Colonial Heritage Clubhouse.
