Born in Brooklyn, Camille was always immensely proud of her roots, which imbued her with both a determined spirit and a deep sense of loyalty to those she loved. She was married to the late Ronald John Starzman until his passing in 2013; and together, they raised their son, Ronald J. Starzman, Jr. Her commitment and strength were evident in the way she navigated her life with her family, always putting the well-being of her loved ones at the very center of her heart.
Family was at the heart of Camille’s life. She cherished her son Ronnie and found immense joy in spending time with her adored grandchildren, Samantha and John. Her love for family was a guiding force, and she particularly cherished holidays and traditions, making each celebration -- even a simple meal -- special for those around her.
Before dedicating herself to her family, Camille built a career as a support staff member at Brookhaven National Labs and Pfizer, where she was remembered for her professionalism, reliability, and warm presence.
At home, Camille’s many talents shone through. She was a skilled crocheter, an avid gardener, and an exceptional cook. Camille was famous for her cookies, especially at Christmas -- her rainbow three-color cookies and cheesecake were renowned throughout her friends and family, and a source of pride. True to her New York roots, she never hesitated to voice her opinion about Italian food in Virginia, always holding Brooklyn’s standards dear.
Camille is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ron; and siblings Frank, Rachel, Angela, and Mary. She is survived by her devoted son, Ron (Catherine); loving grandchildren, Samantha and John; and her cherished sister, Anne. Those who knew Camille remember her as deeply loving, caring, and strong -- a woman whose warmth, candor, and unwavering love will be missed but never forgotten.
A wake for Camille will be held Thursday, July 31, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg, VA 23188. A memorial mass will occur Friday, August 1, 2025 at 9:00 AM at Saint Bede Catholic Church, 3686 Ironbound Rd, Williamsburg, VA 23188 with a reception to follow at her home.
