

Cathy Dansereau Marple passed away on September 9, 2025, after a stoic 5-year battle with cancer. She was born on August 18, 1955, in New London, CT to Richard and Patricia Dansereau and spent her childhood in East Lyme, CT. In 1974 she graduated from Boston University as a certified dental assistant. In the same year she met her husband, Christopher Marple while he was a Cadet at the US Coast Guard Academy. They wed in 1975 and recently celebrated 50 years of marriage.
Cathy worked as a dental assistant for several years before becoming a devoted stay-at-home mother to her two daughters. After raising her daughters, she returned to work as an oral surgery assistant.
Cathy was known for her cooking, baking and making everyone feel welcome in her home. She loved decorating the house for the holidays, especially Christmas, and her Christmas cookies are exceptionally delicious. She was a dedicated homemaker who spread warmth and joy. Other hobbies included supporting her children and grandchildren at their sporting events and activities, tole painting and playing bunco.
She is predeceased by her parents Richard and Patricia Dansereau of East Lyme, CT, and her sister Paula Rader of Hayes, VA.
She is survived by her husband Christopher Marple, daughters Kristen Marple of Williamsburg and Caitlin Marple Wright (Justin) of Williamsburg, grandsons Hudson and Brady Wright, sister Lesley McKiernan of New London, CT, brother Jonathan Dansereau (Joanne) of Toano. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Nelsen’s Funeral Home in Williamsburg on September 19 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. A funeral mass will be held at St. Bede Catholic Church on September 20 at 1:00 PM. A private burial service will be held at a later date in East Lyme, CT.
Flowers may be sent to Nelsen’s Funeral Home or donations may be made in memory of Cathy to VCU Massey Cancer Center.
