Claude Louis Frederick

Born in Utica, New York, on August 21, 1930, Claude graduated from Syracuse University before proudly serving his country in the United States Air Force. He went on to enjoy a distinguished 30-year career in financial management with General Electric, where his discipline, integrity, and strong work ethic earned the respect of colleagues and friends alike.

Claude was preceded in death by his first wife, Geraldine Frederick; his second wife, Gail Frederick; and his grandson, Martin Mather.

He is lovingly survived by his children, Kathleen Slack (Rick), Joseph Frederick (Wendy), and Amy Frederick; his stepson, Keith James (Angie). He was a proud and devoted grandfather to Courtney Murrell (Bryan), Joseph Mather, Alissa Lumpkin (Logan), Joshua Frederick, Dakota Smith (Aaron), Addison James, Elizabeth Bertagnole (Ben), Anna James, Katy Lorentz (Russ). He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Andrew Kennedy; his sister-in-law, Bonnie Hudson (Tom); and many cherished extended family members, and his very treasured great-grandchildren.

Claude was deeply committed to serving others. He volunteered with Meals on Wheels and Williamsburg Community Hospital and was an active member of St. Bede Catholic Church, where he served on the Parish Council and participated in many church ministries throughout the years.

To those who knew him best, Claude will be remembered for much more than his accomplishments. He was a passionate Syracuse fan who rarely missed the chance to cheer on his Orange, and he loved following sports of all kinds. He was a man of routine, discipline, and determination--a person whose remarkable will to live inspired those around him. He also had quite the sweet tooth and never missed dessert, a simple pleasure that always brought him joy. Above all else, Claude loved his family. He found his greatest joy in watching his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren grow, and he treasured every moment spent with them.

His life was defined by quiet strength, steadfast faith, and a generous heart. Claude's example of perseverance, kindness, and love will continue to guide those who were blessed to know him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
