Curtis E. Herring passed away peacefully in Williamsburg, Virginia on July 8, 2013 at the age of 106. He was born in Headland, Alabama in 1907. He lived and worked in Cleveland, Ohio as a salesman for McKesson and Robbins for over 30 years, and then enjoyed a long retirement in Florida, North Carolina, and finally, Williamsburg, Virginia.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Ronnie and Curtis Colin, and by Mildred, his wife of 74 years. He is survived by his twins, Pamela Nault of Hampton and Dr. Kent Herring of Williamsburg; a daughter-in-law, Alice Herring, and son-in-law, Lt. Col. Charles Nault (Ret.). He will also be greatly missed by his only grandson, Col. Curtis McGiffin and wife, Laura, and his only great-grandson, Matthew McGiffin, and several nieces and nephews.
He was a wonderful person, well-loved and respected. At his 106th birthday party, he summed it up with “I’ve had a wonderful life!”
