

Dorothy Nadine Brandenburg, daughter of the late Earle and Nancy Smith, was born August 10, 1925, in Buell, Missouri, and died peacefully in her sleep March 19, 2016 in Williamsburg. She was a Baptist. Nadine graduated from Wellsville High School in 1943, and married U.S. Navy air cadet Ensign Harry Scott Brandenburg on November 30, 1943, in Mexico, Missouri. She moved with him from Pensacola to Melbourne, Florida then to Washington and Oregon.
At war's end, the couple resided in St. Louis for more than a decade then moved to Columbia, Kirksville and Poplar Bluff before settling in Independence where Nadine worked for Interstate Securities. They relocated to Kansas City North in 1971, then retired to their Ozark weekend home at Table Rock Lake in 1976. In 1988, they moved to Lake Viking to be near their grandchildren in the Kansas City area, then followed them to Virginia in 2002. They enjoyed traveling to all 50 states in a succession of RVs and also made several trips abroad, visiting Europe several times plus Australia and New Zealand, South America and the Middle East.
Nadine was preceded in death by son Michael Scott, who died shortly after birth in 1945; her devoted husband, Harry; her parents; and her sisters, twins Wanita Clement and Wanda Turner. She is survived by her daughters Terrill Bohon and Karen (Tom) Rogers, both of Williamsburg; granddaughters Aimee Rogers (Dave) Fluitt of Grosse Pointe, Michigan, Thara Bohon of Woodbridge, and Kaitlin Rogers of Reston; grandson Scott (Mikael) Bohon of Aurora, Colorado; great-grandchildren Alexander Fluitt and Micah, Jonah and Coralye Bohon; and many nieces and nephews.
Services are scheduled at Quantico National Cemetery at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 1. To honor her love of animals, please make a donation to Heritage Humane Society or Peninsula ASPCA (Newport News) in lieu of flowers.
