IN THE CARE OF
Nelsen Williamsburg
Edgar Rawlings Jones, 68, was taken suddenly on July 11, 2013, in a tragic accident while on vacation with his wife, Linda, in Nice, France. He was the son of the late Dr. Darden W. Jones and Sara Rawlings Jones of Franklin, VA, and joins them and his father-in-law, William H. Kohnke, in heaven.
Ed was a devoted family man and loving husband. He is survived by his wife Linda Kohnke Jones; his brother, Darden Watkins Jones Jr.; and mother-in-law, Lucienne Kohnke.
Following his graduation from Franklin High School in 1963, he graduated from Virginia Military Institute in 1967 and was selected for membership to the Beta Commission of the Kappa Alpha Order. Before completing his law degree at the Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego, CA, he earned an MBA degree from Old Dominion University. Following VMI, he served in the United States Air Force for four years in R.A.F. Mildenhall, England and Langley Air Force Base. In addition to practicing law in Franklin, VA, he practiced law in Frankfurt, Germany for ten years before continuing his practice in Williamsburg, VA.
He will be missed dearly by his immediate family, relatives and faithful dog, Zoé. We are grateful to the abounding and loving support of our friends and all persons touched by Ed’s constant concern for the welfare of others.
The family will receive friends at the Nelsen Funeral Home on Sunday, August 4th, from 2-4 PM. A memorial service will be held to celebrate Eddy’s life in the Franklin Christian Church on Saturday, August 3rd at 12 PM. His final repose will be at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Brock, Darden Jones & Selma Gertrude Rawls Jones Scholarship at Elon University, Campus Box 26001, Elon, NC 27244.
