Edgar Mark “Buck” Lusk Jr., 73, of Williamsburg, passed away peacefully at his home on July 10, 2023. He was born on May 16, 1950 in Williamsburg to the late Edgar Mark Lusk Sr. of Wise County, VA and the late Katherine Bissie Vaughan of Marfrance, West Virginia. Mark spent his youth competing in speed skating in the tri-state region from 1960-1963. Mark accepted his first job at Wythe Candy store in Toano where his love for (arguably the worst) candy began! He was a member of the James Blair High School graduating class of 1967. Shortly after graduation, he joined the Navy. He was also a skilled drummer in a rock band in the 1970’s. Most notably, Mark worked for PepsiCo for 30+ years where he retired. He was a member of the Teamsters union while at PepsiCo and spent a brief time serving as the Secretary Treasurer at the Teamsters Local Union 822.
His children and then grandchildren, who endearingly called him "Pop Pop" were his pride and joy. His Pomeranian “boys”, Charlie and Bear were never far from his side. His love for sports carried through his life from playing football and baseball in high school to cheering on his children and grandchildren during all of their activities. Some of his favorite past times include simple conversations on the porch, a hot breakfast at a diner, watching comedy shows, and learning about history. He loved all conversation, even politics. There was never a dull moment with him, and you would never catch him using any technology other than a flip phone!
Mark was preceded in death by his late mother, Katherine Bissie Vaughan and Father Edgar Mark Lusk Sr. He is also preceded in death by the mother of his children (Justin, Ashley, Adam and Kirstie), Dennette Miller-Lusk and by his son, Eric Michael Lusk.
He is survived by his loving wife of 12 years, Cathy Jean Lusk of Williamsburg. He is also survived by the mother of his children (Teresa and Eric), Carol McCombs and his sister, Katherine “Kit” Kellis. He is also survived by his children Teresa (Brian) Bagnall, Justin (Mary Caitlin) Miller-Lusk, Ashley (Dustin) Gaworski, Adam (Gabriella) Miller-Lusk, Kirstie Miller-Lusk; and grandchildren, Chase, Erin, Peyton, Michael, Dickie, Austin, Brooks, Anabelle, Sloane, Deckard, Mateo and Moses; and his “boys” Charlie and Bear.
The Memorial Service will be held on July 22 at 1pm at Nelsen Funeral Home in Williamsburg. In lieu of flowers, family suggests contributions to American Heart Association.
