

Colonel (Ret.) Ernest A. Hinojosa, Jr., passed away on Friday, April 22, 2016 at the age of 94. He proudly served his country in the United States Army for 36 years. During the course of his career, he served in the European Theater of Operations in World War II and in the Vietnam War.
After his retirement in 1978, he continued to maintain his affiliation with the military by his participation with MOAA-The Military Officers Association of America. During his years with MOAA, he served the organization in many capacities that included terms as president both in New Orleans, LA and here in Williamsburg, VA. He also served on the State of Louisiana MOAA Board of Directors.
Ernie was preceded in death by his father, Ernest A. Hinojosa and his mother, Blasé Cortinas of Brownsville, TX. He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Fasullo Hinojosa; his four children, Cheryl H. Packard (David) of Braselton, GA; Colonel (Ret.) Ernest A. Hinojosa, III (Eva) of Williamsburg; Lt. Colonel (Ret.) Richard L. Hinojosa (Darlene) of Williamsburg; and Lisa H. Greason (Bob) of New Rochelle, N.Y. In addition, he is survived by nine grandchildren (Pamela Packard Pelletier, Dave Packard, Jr., Bobby Greason, Michael Greason, Tommy Greason, Tim Hinojosa, Matt Hinojosa, Oliva Hinojosa and Anthony Hinojosa) and five great-grandchildren (Sydney Packard, Lauryn Packard, Trey Pelletier, Danielle Pelletier and Hunter Packard).
A Funeral Mass will take place on Thursday, April 28 at 11 am at St. Bede Catholic Church, 3686 Ironbound Road, Williamsburg, VA. Interment will take place at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington D.C. at a later date.
