Eulan Chism

Eulan Chism was born in Glasgow, KY on February 22, 1924 to Amos and Mayme Chism who precede him in death as well as his twin brother Ewell Chism and nephew George H. Bowers. He is survived by his wife Waltraud “Trudy” Chism; daughter Donna Chism; Granddaughters Mariel Potter and Leanne (Matthew) Defino; and Great-Grand Children David and Ava Grace Defino. Also he is survived by his Sister-in-Law and husband Brigitte & George F. Bowers, Niece Scarlett Bowers, Great Nieces Marlena (Matthew) Passante and Erika Kempton of Williamsburg. Sister-in-Law and Husband Elke & Peter Mueller, Niece Sandra (Klaus) Bappert and Great Nephew Calvin Engel of Mannheim, Germany. And a faithful canine companion Sheba.

Eulan, a WWII, Korean and Vietnam Veteran, my best friend and loving husband has gone home to be with the Lord (The True Living God). He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Eulan joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1942 and served heroically in the South Pacific until 1945. He then joined the Kentucky National Guard and later re-enlisted in the U.S. Army. During his service he did two tours in Korea and one tour in Vietnam. He also did three tours of Germany, Kitzingen-Wurzburg, Frankfurt and Mannheim - Heidelburg where he met his loving wife of 57 years, Trudy.

After retirement from the U.S. Army in 1970, he continued to be a prosperous and well liked man of God. He was employed at Woolco Department store as a department manager, Cheatham Annex in security and Busch Gardens in the supply warehouse.

He will be greatly missed as a neighbor, friend, brother and proud member of the DAV Chapter #34.
