Eva Marcus Siegert, 88, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2016. She was born in Berlin, Germany on August 16, 1927. Eva immigrated to the United States in October 1951. Prior to her immigration, she was employed by the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society where she met her future husband, Georg Siegert, who contacted the Society for their aid in securing passage to the U.S. They ended up on the same ship and a romance developed. After arriving in the U.S., Eva resided in New Jersey while Georg lived in Virginia, but that did not keep them apart and they married April 9, 1952.
Eva was an excellent stenographer, typist, and book keeper with her last position at the Annapolis Hotel in Washington, DC. They lived 37 years in Bethesda, Maryland before moving to Williamsburg, Virginia just a few months ago. This past April, they celebrated their 64th anniversary.
Mrs. Siegert is survived by her loving husband Georg of Williamsburg, VA; brother-in-law Kurt Siegert of Atlanta, GA; sister-in-law Ingrid Siegert Brown (Ed) of Williamsburg, VA; nieces Ingrid Siegert (Tim Puckett) of Atlanta, GA, Sandra Wimbish (Scott) of Midlothian, VA, Karen Brown (Andy) of Hong Kong, Barbara Hendricks (Tom) of Santa Rosa, CA; and nephew George Bell(Diane) of Virginia Beach, VA; great nieces Allie and Megan Brown of Hong Kong, Liza and Sarah Wimbish of Midlothian VA; and great nephews Charles Griffin of Berkeley, CA, Davis Brown of Hong Kong and Turner Wimbish of Midlothian, VA.
