

He was preceded in death by his parents; Burton E. Rose and Myrtie Lee Rose; and first wife, Jean S. Rose.
George was a graduate of Edwards Military School and East Carolina University. He received his master’s degree from Golden Gate. He was a retired major and served 20 years in the Air Force including 3 tours in Vietnam.
He was a devout member of Bruton Parish Church. George enjoyed photography, travel, sharing stories, and learning anything new. He also enjoyed historical reading and sports, especially Atlanta Braves Baseball. He was a member of the Aviation Group, the VA Aeronautical Association and T.A.C. Tankers. George also volunteered for the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation and was very active in church. Most importantly, he loved spending time with friends and family.
George is survived by his wife, Kathleen; his sons, George Barry Rose and his good friend Stacey Jordan, David Christopher Rose and his wife, Lisa and Kevin Scott Rose and his wife, Donna; his step-daughters, Denice Barkwill and her husband, Scott, Victoria Herrick and her husband, Jeff and Liz Gentry and her husband, Van; step-son, Jeff Dunn and his wife, Kim; grandchildren, Payton Rose, Mason Rose, Michael Dunn, Lydia Gentry, Heather Herrick, Katie Gentry and Rachel Herrick; great-granddaughter, Lilah Dunn; sister, Betty Tart and her husband, Lee; nephew, Ben Tart and his wife, Beth; grandniece, Laura Tart; and many cousins and extended family members.
A visitation will take place Friday, September 18 from 7-9pm at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg, VA. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 19 at 2pm, at Bruton Parish Church, 331 W Duke of Gloucester St, Williamsburg, VA.
