Gerald Keck Limber

Born in American Falls, ID on February 21, 1941, Jerry was preceded in death by his son, Carl Randolph Limber; father, Carl Raymond Limber; and mother, Virginia Keck Limber.

Jerry grew up in Latrobe, PA. He received his Bachelor of Science from Grove City College and his M.D. in Pathology from the University of Pittsburgh. Jerry was a Pathologist for Randolph Hospital in Asheboro, NC for over 25 years, and was on the Pathology faculty of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Medical School.

Jerry had boundless curiosity, and was always building or making something in his workshop. He was a skilled woodworker and built several boats, including a 34-foot sailboat — complete with a live-in cabin — by himself over 10+ years. In addition, Jerry was a remote-controlled airplane builder, a violin and guitar luthier, and, in the late 1980s, he crafted a fully-functioning robot out of a deconstructed IBM computer. When he wasn’t building things, Jerry enjoyed astrophotography, operating his Ham Radio, practicing martial arts, and boating. He was passionate about traveling and planning trips, and spent time in Australia, Italy, and the UK with his family. Jerry was a candy enthusiast, a passion he also passed on to his family, and was rarely without Good & Plenty and Necco Wafers. Jerry was a practicing Buddhist and a former Freemason. Most recently, he enjoyed volunteering in Colonial Williamsburg, where he assisted with archaeological digs, gave talks about Williamsburg history, and worked in the library.

Jerry loved his wife and his family. He is survived by his wife, Martha Toler Limber; son, Patrick Wayland Limber (Kathleen Moore); daughter, Gwyneth Ann Limber (Maxwell Allen); grandchildren, Elsie June Limber (daughter of Patrick & Kathleen); sister, Ramie Ortiz of Latrobe, PA; and beloved dog, Bonnie.
