Gertrude “Trudy” Groth Foss, 87, passed away January 31, 2016. She is preceded in death by her husband, James Foss, Sr. Her survivors include; son James Foss, Jr. (Kathleen); daughters Sue Spare (Gary) and Jeri Thornton (Thomas); granddaughter Kristen Berardi; grandson James Brode Foss; great-granddaughter Oliva Lee; sister Ann Carr; and brother Robert Groth.
Born in New York to Walter and Kate Groth on September 10, 1929, she enjoyed a 35 year career as a Registered Nurse. Independent and adventurous, “Trudy” loved hot air ballooning, sky-diving, and “death” defying roller coasters. She also enjoyed knitting, sewing, gardening, traveling, cooking Friday Night suppers, fishing and working with the Williamsburg Players back stage. She was also an outstanding member of both The American Legion and The VFW.
