Ross was a long time resident of Governors Land. He was a board member and treasurer of the Two Rivers Country Club and commodore of the yacht club. He was an avid sailor and collector of shoulder patch insignias, as well as a published author. He also served in the Army during the Korean War.
Ross is survived by his wife of 56 years, Louisa; sons, H. Ross Ford III, Bruce (Sou); grandchildren, H. Ross Ford IV, Alexander Ford, Parker Ford, and Caroline Ford.
