Helen Agnes Lennon

Helen Lennon, 81, of Williamsburg, Virginia, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, December 3, 2023. Born in the Washington Heights neighborhood of New York City, she met and married the love of her life and husband of 57 years, John Francis Lennon. Helen dedicated her life to raising her three children, Mary Ellen, Kathleen, and John, and creating a home that celebrated dinner around the table, regular visits to the library, Friday night movie nights, and summer vacations in a lake cabin in the Poconos. She cultivated a strong work ethic and commitment to education in her children and took immense pride in their professional degrees. She happily welcomed their spouses, Mark, Brian, and Liz, into the family, delighting in the extra settings at the holiday table. She rejoiced in her role as grandmother and adored her six grandchildren, Noah, Thomas, Molly, Brady, Ellie, and Abby, who eagerly looked forward to every visit to Grandma and Grandpa's house. In retirement, Helen and John appreciated the gift of time together, finding as much satisfaction in sitting together in Water Mill Park or Panera Bread, as they did spending anniversary vacations in more adventurous locales like Barbados, Aruba, and Bermuda. John and Helen loved each other with dedicated devotion and unconditional love.

Helen, a devout Catholic and a member of St. Kevin's Catholic Church in Queens, NY and St. Olaf's Catholic Church in Norge, Virginia, believed in the power of prayer and the intercession of the Blessed Mother in times of need and thanksgiving. She was cherished for her gift of conversation and her generosity in taking the time to hear about others' lives. We hold her memory of deep, abiding love for her family always in our hearts.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, December 16, 2023, in St. Olaf's Catholic Church with a reception following. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made through contributions to Shriners Hospitals for Children and the Paralyzed Veterans of America.
