Jack is survived by his children, Richard and Susan Foster, and his siblings, Steve Foster, Ellen Hall, and Nancy Weed. He is preceded in death by his mother, Frances Hailey and his father, Richard Foster.
Jack was born in Hot Springs, Arkansas on July 9, 1957 to Richard Foster and Frances Hailey. He graduated from Sidney Lanier High School in 1975 and attended Auburn University before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force in 1980. Jack began his military career in the 2140th Communications Group in Hellenikon AB, Greece as a Ground Radio technician. Over the span of his military career, Jack served as a Missile Communications technician and supervisor, Ground Launch Cruise Missile Flight Maintenance Supervisor, NCOIC of Job Control and Radio Maintenance, and System Support Element Chief. In 1998, he was promoted to Chief Master Sergeant after only 18 years of military service, a rank that on average takes 22 years of experience. Jack’s military decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Commendation Medal, Combat Readiness Medal, Good Conduct Medal with four oak leaf clusters, National Defense Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization Medal. We forever thank him for his service to our country and his commitment to the U.S. Military.
Jack was a loving father and an avid cyclist. He enjoyed the outdoors, often going on cycling trips around Europe and hiking trips amongst one of Virginia’s many natural parks. He had a fascination for cars, and his dream cars were either the ‘57 Chevrolet Bel-Air or the ‘84 Alfa Romeo Spider, depending on the day. Jack had an affinity for music, often going to the countless music shops around Richmond in search of his next big guitar purchase. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him.
