

Born on March 12, 1931, in Sledge, Mississippi, Jim dedicated over 30 years of his life to the U.S. Air Force, serving in both the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He retired with the distinguished rank of Chief Master Sergeant. Following his military career, he continued to serve as a civil servant for nearly two decades and devoted much of his time to various volunteer organizations.
Known for his outgoing personality, Jim never met a stranger, and he leaves behind a legacy of service and friendship that touched numerous lives both in and out of uniform.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of nearly 50 years, Paddy, and was the last surviving of six Bailey siblings. He is survived by his children, Donna (Bo), Wendy, and James (Laura); grandchildren, Aimee (Steve), Chris, and Catherine (Nelson); and great-grandson, Trace.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 11, from 5 to 7 PM at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Road, Williamsburg, Virginia. A graveside funeral service is scheduled for Wednesday, November 12, at 1 PM at Williamsburg Memorial Park, 130 King William Drive, Williamsburg, Virginia. A reception following the graveside service will be held at 103 Robertson Street, Williamsburg.
Special and heartfelt appreciation is extended to Patriots Colony, especially the Springhouse team, for their loving care.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, an organization close to Jim's heart, honoring his commitment to fellow servicemen and women.
