I,too ,met jim at ft. magruder and I found him to be bright ,funny and a perfect gentleman.rest in peace ,jim..the world needs more people like you..

We want to give our condolences for the passing of Jim "PAPA" Kennan. I first met PAPA in 1994 when he trained me as a server at the Fort Magruder Inn (then owned by Roxy White). He was a very funny man and we had a lot of fun and entertaining times working and hanging out on the back dock. We moved on but always ran into each other over the years.  Him being our waiter at the Peddler Steak House, in the Polo Club parking lot when he worked at the Whitehall, then at the Gazebo and most recently at the Food Lion in Ewell station (maybe he was stocking me,HAHA,or visa versa).  I most recently saw him in my rear view mirror as I was leaving Food Lion and he was walking from the store (I think it was Jan. 25th and I was heading to a cancer benefit, so I didn't turn around).  Jim was a  friend to Joe and I and we always loved reminiscing when we saw each other. We will miss him dearly. God bless you and I hope they have mountain oysters in Heaven please save one for me.
