

He was born April 8, 1948 and was preceded in death by his daughter, Carolina Elizabeth Leach; mother, Hilda Isley Leach; and father, James Richard Leach, Sr.
James received his bachelor’s degree from Old Dominion University and his master’s through three army programs. He served as a Major and Officer in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of the Faith Fellowship Church in James City County, Virginia. He was also an artist for
Colonial Williamsburg, Yorktown Museum, and the Jamestown Museum.
In Williamsburg, James had a home business making leather reproductions by hand. He would create fine trunks, key baskets, gunpowder pockets, and saddles.
When he wasn’t working, James loved playing with his beloved daughter Carolina.
James is survived by his wife, Barbara Haislip Leach and his brother, Mark Isley Leach.
A visitation for James will be held Thursday, September 4, 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg, with a service to follow at 12:30 PM. A graveside service will occur Thursday, September 4, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Williamsburg Memorial Park Cemetery, 130 King William Dr, Williamsburg, VA 23188.
