

James, son of James William Miller and Lulu Ritchey Miller, was born in Wilkinsburg, PA, on June 14, 1928. After service in the U.S. Army at the rank of Sergeant, he attended Bethany College, where he earned a degree in Business & Economics. He leaves for the moment his beloved wife, Nancy, who has been his partner and best friend for the past 75 years. He also leaves two daughters and two sons and their spouses: Lise Ann and John Kontra of Villanova, PA (Alexandra and husband Andrew, Michael, Gabrielle, & Sophia), Kristy Lynn and Jim Seechuk of Catonsville, MD (Graham), Todd William and Elizabeth Miller of Olney, MD (Jacqueline, Evelyn, & Robert), and Scott Mitchell and Rick Reinsch of Arlington, VA (Jake). He was preceded in death by his sisters, Marjorie and Carol.
Recruited by the Bell Telephone System, he served in various positions in West Virginia, Virginia, Washington, DC, and Maryland with the C&P Tel. Co. Positions he held included General Commercial Mgr. (DC), General Personnel & Labor Relations Mgr., (Maryland). With the break-up of the Bell System, he joined AT&T as a Director of Personnel. He retired in 1987 from AT&T as Eastern Region Personnel Director. A resident of Williamsburg since 1988, Jim was active with the Williamsburg Symphonia, York River Orchestra, Christopher Wren Association, Fish, and the Hospice House. A lifelong Presbyterian, he was a member of the Williamsburg Presbyterian Church and in previous churches served as Elder and Deacon. It has been written that “immortality lies in the hearts and minds of those who remain". - So best to all who "remain"!
A Celebration of Life will take place at 2:00 PM on Friday, Sept 12 ,2025 at the Kensington Room, WindsorMeade, 3900 Windsor Hall Drive, Williamsburg, VA 23188.
