

She was an employee of the FBI in Newark, N.J. After her marriage to Alexander Cameron Guthrie, also of Maplewood, N.J. the couple relocated to North Carolina and South Carolina where they raised their 7 children. The family eventually settled in Williamsburg, Va.
In her lifetime Janet enjoyed being a wife and mother. She was a certified Confraternity of Christian Doctrine instructor for the Catholic Church for many years in N.C.
Janet was a historical interpreter for the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation for 24 years. During this period, she was admitted to the Garden Writers of America. She wrote and published a monthly garden newsletter as well as free lanced garden magazine articles. Janet was also employed as a lecturer for Elderhostel at the College of William and Mary. She finished her career being employed by the Preservation Virginia, working in the Archaearium, in Historic Jamestown. Janet Loved history and took every advantage to continue to learn new things.
Survivors include: Her sister, Lois Thornton of Yorktown, and Janet’s seven children and their spouses: Bonnie Easter (Mark), Beverly Dempsey (Rick), Cynthia Schumacher (Roger), Scott Guthrie (Rosemary), Wendy Waxmunski (Dennis), Cameron Guthrie (Jennifer), and Heidi Stewart (Buddy). She also leaves behind 12 grandchildren and 8 great grand-children. Janet was loved, and so many of us will continue to cherish the memories we have of our time spent with her.
