Jarod Allen Walker, age 24, passed away unexpectedly on May 14, 2021. He was born in Newport News, Virginia on January 22, 1997.
Jarod was a 2016 graduate of Lafayette High School in Williamsburg, Virginia.
He is survived by his mother, Kristy Walker; his father, Todd Walker (Sara); his sister, Laura Walker; his grandparents, John and Jenny Ochranek and Sheryl Kaufman; his great-grandma, Joan Ochranek; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Jarod had a love for music and started playing in the school band in 5th grade. By the time he graduated high school he could play every brass instrument in the band, as well as acoustic, bass and electric guitars. He played in the marching band, jazz band and honors band. Jarod had a passion for knowledge and was an avid reader from an early age, reading anything from fiction to non-fiction, including biographies and, yes, even encyclopedias.
Jarod’s heart was huge and compassionate. He loved to make people laugh with his great, yet dry, sense of humor. His smile was huge and infectious, he gave the best hugs in the world. He had a soft spot for animals and loved his two dogs immensely.
Jarod also really enjoyed being outdoors. One of his favorite activities was going fishing with his buddies. When being outside was not an option, Jarod enjoyed playing video games and listening to music. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.
Jarod was the brightest of lights. May he now soar on wings like eagles.
Below are some of Jarod's favorite musical lyrics:
“There are things known and things unknown and in between are the doors.” - Jim Morrison
“And a new day will dawn for those who stand long.” - Led Zeppelin
"Be cool or be cast out." - Rush
"Woe yoy yoy, woe yoy yoy yoy, Woe yoy yoy yo, yoy yoy yoy yo" - Bob Marley
"I’ve got a bike you can ride if you like." - Pink Floyd
"I’d ask my friends to come and see an octopus’ garden with me." - The Beatles
