Jean Fletcher Carter

Jean F. Carter, age 90, of Williamsburg, passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2015. Jean was born in Richmond, VA and was raised in James City County by Charles and Mary Thompson. She was a long-time member of James River Baptist Church, where she taught first graders for over 45 years, was a vacation bible school teacher, and a mission’s leader.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Jeff Carter. She is survived by her two daughters, Sandra and Lynn; son-in-law Ed; granddaughter Dawn; and great-grandchildren Raiden and Sydnie.

A visitation will be held at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3758 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg, on Monday, June 1, from 3:00-7:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at James River Baptist Church, 4931 Centerville Rd., Williamsburg, on Tuesday, June 2, at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
