Jeanette is survived by her four children, sons Earnest Warren, “Earnie”, Dyke Jr and wife Carol and Richard Eric Dyke and daughters, Bonnie Leigh Rickard and husband Curtis and Ronnie Lynn Serrett; six grandchildren: Rachel Dyke Meenattoor and husband Emmanuel, Aaron Dyke, Logan Serrett, Nick Serrett, Jason Goins and wife Karen, Lydia Jenner and husband Steve; and four great-grandchildren: Jacob, Erik, Gregory and Aubre; and a brother, Eddie Crafford. She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Dyke and parents, Edmond “Bill” Crafford and Jamie Crafford.
Jeanette had a less than idyllic childhood and to escape it, she married at a very young age. Unfortunately this did not provide the escape she sought. It was not until her marriage to Warren in December 1962 that her life changed for the better.
Together, she and Warren had four children and the five of them became her purpose in life. She got up every morning and fixed five breakfasts and packed five lunches. She cleaned and washed clothes and fixed dinners and took great care of her family. She attended parent/teacher meetings and plays and concerts and ensured that all of the five knew she had their backs.
She drove a school bus for a time, was a restaurant hostess for a time and bowled for many years on a ladies Bowling league. All the while helping to tend a large garden and canning vegetables so her family always had the best to eat.
She was the epitome of a great wife, mother and grandmother and she will be missed terribly.
A viewing will be held from 5:30 - 7:30 PM on Tuesday, September 8th at Nelsen Funeral Home in Williamsburg. A grave side service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 9th at Williamsburg Memorial Park.
