Jim served a brief tour in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Era and later worked as a supervisor on various construction projects.
He is predeceased by his wife of 44 years, Sandra; and his brother and sister-in-law, Cecil and Mary Ruth McDaniel.
Jim is survived by his daughter, Erin Pauls and her husband, Patrick; his son; Sean and his wife Nancy; five grandchildren; his brother, Steven McDaniel; niece, Shelly Tomlinson; nephew, Erik Sutton; and his mother in law, Myrtle Sutton.
The family will receive friends on Thursday October 30 from 10-11am with a service at 11am at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg VA 23188. Interment will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Williamsburg VA.
