

John F. ‘Jack’ Burns (75) answered God’s call February 13, 2015. He was born on May 7, 1939 and raised in Brooklyn, NY. He was a resident of Williamsburg since 1983. Following graduation from high school, he entered the U.S. Navy, serving over 22 years. He continued his commitment through Civil Service at the Yorktown Naval Weapons Station, until retirement in 2001.
Jack will be forever remembered by his devoted children; daughters, Cathy Ivey and her husband Steve, Ronnie New and her husband Calvin, and Debi Burcham and her husband Bart; son, John F. Burns, Jr.; and treasured grandchildren, C.J. Pickin, Joey Batts, Brian Batts, Chris Taylor, Zachary Ivey and Eric New, along with countless other friends and family who were blessed to know him.
He was one of three sons born to the late John J. and Veronica Burns, beloved husband of the late Gwendolyn M. Burns for over 40 years, and was predeceased by his granddaughter, Tiffany Burns Walls .
You have been a devoted husband, father and grandfather - we will miss you dearly. You have brought love and happiness to your family that will fill our hearts each day we think of you.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 19, 2015 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Nelsen Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 20, 2015 at 1:00pm at Nelsen Funeral Home, followed by interment at Williamsburg Memorial Park.
