Jon Allison Evans
August 27, 1931 – June 4, 2013

Jon A. Evans passed away on Tuesday, June 4 at age 81, peacefully at home. He retired from the U.S. Navy after 30 years of service. During his military career, he served as a hospital corpsman in Korea and Vietnam. He finished his career at Naval Weapons Station at NOSTRA Lens Lab.
Jon took pride in his family and was always there for us. He never met a stranger.
He was predeceased by his elementary school friend, high school sweetheart and wife of 55 years, Wanda M. Evans and their daughter, Christine Evans Smith. He is survived by his brothers, Ronald Evans of Cassville, MO, Robert Evans (Dorothy) of Littleton, CO and Howard “Buddy” Evans (Mary Catherine) of Austin, TX; daughters, Nancy Hevener (George) of Franklin, WV and Elaine Good (Kirk) of Williamsburg, VA; son, Jon R. Evans (Bonnie) of Annapolis, MD; seven grandchildren, Heather, Angela, Anna, Alison, Ashley, Taylor and Spencer; and nine great-grandchildren, Sarah, Ben, Evan, Jason, Grace, Emily, Madeline, David and Vivian.
A visitation will be held at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg on Sunday, June 9 from 6 – 8 PM. Funeral services will take place at Nelsen Funeral Home on Monday, June 10 at 10 AM, followed by a burial with full military honors at Cedar Grove Cemetery.
