Josephine P. Henk passed away on August 17, 2025. For those closest to Josephine, the world will never be the same. She embodied everything that a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend should be. She will be deeply missed.
Josephine was born in Schenectady, NY in 1930 to Eva and Anthony Pangie. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts and a Masters degree in English from the College of Saint Rose in Albany, NY. Josephine enjoyed her work as a teacher for two years before marrying her beloved husband of 65 years, Edmund Henk, who preceded her in death.
Together they traveled the world for Ed’s career with Mobil Oil International, raising a family of four children. Josephine was a supportive partner for Ed when his job took the family to Ghana, Sudan, Switzerland, Turkey, France, England, Australia and finally Connecticut. Her elegance, beauty and kindness belied a sharp intellect, and she helped Ed entertain people from different countries and cultures. They retired to Virginia where Josephine enjoyed many years of seeing her grandchildren, playing golf and bridge, and painting. Their Virginia home for 35 years provided a warm and welcoming destination for her family.
Josephine is survived by her four children, Andrea, Joanne, Ed, Steven and their spouses. Josephine had four grandchildren, Paige, Brad, Blair and Katherine and six great-grandchildren, Juliette, Cora, Ned, Margaret, Minnie and Frances.
Her final days were filled with joy as her great-grandchildren read her stories and sang songs while she applauded. Her family honors her wishes for a private celebration of her life.
