Joyce Richhart Raab

September 14, 1943July 24, 2020

It is with great sadness that we tell you Joyce Richhart Raab, loving wife of James, passed away on July 24th. Everyone who knew this kind, gentle soul understood the caring, giving spirit that represented her entire life. Her three wonderful children ... Jeff, Jamie and Jill ... and her nine awesome grandchildren are living and lasting proof of her total dedication as a wife, mother and grandmother.

Joyce grew up in Fort Wayne, Indiana and graduated from Purdue University where she met and eventually married Jim. This marriage was to last nearly 57 years and involved many moves, much travel, and countless countries.

When all is said and done, the three words that always matter were a constant in their marriage, but the three words that have given Jim the most comfort, completeness, and joy over time were "My husband, Jim." It is hoped he somehow was able to live up to those words.

Funeral services are planned for Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.

If you wish, you can make a donation in her name to Purdue University Center for Cancer Research, Purdue Foundation, 403 West Wood Street, West Lafayette, IN 47907. This will hopefully help others in the future.

Remembering Joyce. Thank you for over thirty five years of wonderful and exciting memories, The Thanksgiving dinners with your special oyster stuffing, the pool parties, where one time you nearly drowned in the jacuzzi. The night you and some other ladies came up to our bedroom and threw ice on me because I went to bed too early.
The seven or eight years of clambakes that made neighborhood history.
The world traveling together for which you did most of the planning.
Your smile that lit up the room and lit up our hearts.
You are up there now, probably laughing at all of this with your very special laugh. We will always love you,
Hugh & Terri

Joyce was the older sister I never had. I would go to her for advice and shared many private thoughts. We were neighbors, friends, “family”. We spent many a lazy afternoon in the pool together on Quincy Adams Ct with our husbands and planned and executed some wonderful clam bakes. Traveling with Joyce and Jim was always a pleasure wether it was golfing in Hawaii or a transatlantic Cruise. Joyce was a caring, kind, gentle woman. She was also always ready for some fun. She was so proud of her children and grandchildren and so devoted to Jim. I will miss her terribly as I am sure so many others will too.

Mrs . Raab 's kindness will always be part of my life. Every morning as I look out my window at 12555 Quincy Adams Court I think of her and the entire Raab family. Many of the special moments of my childhood / life Include her. Thanksgiving, clam bakes, pool parties,Weddings, Baby showers, birthdays, reunions. And so much more. She always made time to be with our family. She always made you feel important and loved. I've grown out of the nickname "Katie," Except when it was Mrs.Raab exclaiming" Oh Katie or Our Little Katie !" My memories will bring me joy forever.

I can’t even begin to express how much I will miss you. You were the best mother I could have ever had, so supportive and caring and helpful. You were more than my mom, you were my friend, an amazing grandmother, a wonderful cook, and so much more. I learned so much from you, that I hope to pass on to my own kids. I love you. I miss you.
