Joyce Louise Rumpf departed this life on June 29, 2018, for a life in Christian eternity. She was a resident of Patriots Colony Retirement Community, Williamsburg, Virginia. Joyce was born on May 31, 1937 of Chicago parents Frank Patrick Moolin, Sr. and Hildegard Petzel Moolin. She was educated in Chicago and graduated from Valparaiso University, Indiana where she majored in Government and took lessons refining her beautiful alto voice.
She married a Navy Officer 58 years ago and toured with him, moving twenty-two times. After military retirement, she found great satisfaction in land tours and ocean cruises.
Her Confirmation Verse was, “Teach me to do your will, for you are my God! Let your good Spirit lead me on level ground.” Always active in the many churches that she attended, she led children’s church choirs, Sunday Schools, formed youth groups, served on church committees and she herself sang in adult choirs. She was the sponsor for a church adopted Vietnamese family. Joyce played a role in promoting an emerging mission church on the West Coast.
She raised three children who gave her five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Once her children were in school, Joyce became the Registrar in a high school assisting other aspiring youths to step forward.
Her daily love was crossword puzzles. An avid sports fan, she followed: national baseball including both the Nationals and Cubs; football Redskins and Bears; the hockey Capitals and professional tennis.
Joyce is preceded in death by parents, Frank and Hildegard Moolin; brother, Frank Moolin, Jr.; sister, Sally and her husband, Edward Kramer. She is survived by husband, Robert; son, Michael; daughter, Sharon and her husband, Alfonso Bellamy; daughter, Allison and her husband, Donald Fetch, and sister-in-law, Ruth Moolin; five grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
