She was born Catharina Johanna Heuvel on November 13th, 1947 in the city of Rotterdam, located in the Netherlands. Affectionately called “Teeny” by her mother, Katherine would come to be called “Tina” in her everyday life.
In 1956, her family immigrated to the United States seeking a better life. The Heuvel family settled in Williamsburg, which is where Tina would form the friendships and bonds that would last her a lifetime.
After graduating James Blair High School in 1966, Tina would go on to work many years for Colonial Williamsburg in the visitor center and the audio-visual department. Following her time with CW, she would work for many years with her beloved sister, Corrie and brother-in-law, Dr. William Sutherland.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Johannes J. Heuvel and Cornelia Heuvel; her brothers John Heuvel and Fred Heuvel; and her sister, Corrie Sutherland.
She is survived by her loving husband, Eric Stoll; her son, Eric Michael Stoll and her daughter-in-law, Serife Kaplan Stoll; all of Williamsburg, not to mention countless friends and family members.
Tina was a loving wife, she was a warm mother, she was a devoted friend, she was an immigrant. She possessed the rare ability to strike up a conversation with anyone she met. No person was ever truly a stranger. She loved flowers and gardening, taking long walks with friends and traveling. Most of all, Tina loved her family and friends. These words do not do justice to the amount of love she had in her heart for them; she will be tremendously missed by all those she touched.
A celebration of life will be held at Nelsen Funeral home on January 17th between 2:00 and 4:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, Tina requested that donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital (https://www.stjude.org/), a cause she cared dearly for. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.NelsenWilliamsburg.com.
